How we allow clients to be more involved in the research process

Most agencies are a ‘black box’.

They meet with clients at the beginning and end of the project, and in between they:

  1. Share limited information about their thinking, or the progress of the project
  2. Keep their distance from clients, and avoid collaboration where possible

This approach leads to poor outcomes. Even the smartest research agencies struggle to understand a client’s business, or the project objectives, as well as the client. Often, the end result on a project doesn’t meet expectations, and the client goes away thinking ‘I’d have been better doing it myself’. Why bother with all that expense if you’re not receiving what you want in return?

When we were speaking to clients prior to the launch of Adience, this issue came up time and time again. So we decided to do something about it.

Our approach is to ‘open the black box’. We collaborate closely with clients throughout a research project. And we give them the opportunity to be far more involved in the research project than they would normally.

For example, we give clients the option of joining in with our analysis process, giving them the opportunity to share their own insights about the data, which allows them to guide the direction of the story as it is built.
That’s why it’s so important to work with a research consultancy such as Adience.
